Approximately 60-70 forged layers. Copper, Nizilber!
Sanded with 1000 grit. Acid etching was done for the development of the drawing.

Mokume-gane, or "wood-eye metal," is a labor intensive an old world Japanese metal smithing technique.
It involves layering different colored metals together then using heat and pressure to cause the metals to fuse together.
Once fused the piece is carved into a topography and flattened to create the beautiful patterns.
